Archives for category: Typography

Well, this afternoon and evening our neighborhood has lost it’s Internet connection from the local provider. Due to this, Wordy Wednesday will be shortened to a Less Wordy Wednesday as I am attempting to blog from my phone via 3G.

Inspired by my mother (above is a practice run for her “Kathy”), I’ve been working on a little bit of handwritten script the past few days. I have no where near the patience or talent that she has developed, but she reminds me that practice can work wonders.

Above is a continuous line script, the pen isn’t lifted at any point while writing a letter.

I think I need to invest in a calligraphy pen of some manner before I attempt more flowing scripts…

Welcome to Wednesday!

Bonjour Mini Art Print

I love typography, like every other designerly type gal. I hope to share a little word-spiration on Wednesday’s. And I often seek out inspiration from some of my favorite sources when I am attempting my own word-smithing (custom work like the wedding invitation below inspired my own wedding program!), or I will just jump in for a spur of the moment purchase.

Keira & Dan Custom

Today’s Wordy Wednesday will feature a Kansas City staple, HAMMERPRESS.

Please be Mine

HAMMERPRESS studios is a print majors dream! Located in the Crossroads Art District near downtown Kansas City, Missouri, HAMMERPRESS offers custom work as well as a wonderful selection of items to the walk-in customer. Offering letterpress greeting cards, posters, are prints and all kinds of other papery goodness, HAMMPERPRESS is open Tuesday-Saturday each week and they stay open late for First Friday Artwalks!

Little Cowgirl

You can check out wonderful new products as they are introduced on their blog.  Or go straight to the shopping cart in their online store, but I warn you it is difficult to choose! I have shared a number of my current favorites though out this blog post, but be sure to stop over and pick out your own favorites!

No Whining Art Print

I have to admit at HAMMERPRESS its more than just the words, its the whole package. For example, this fabulous gift wrap set!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the beauty of Wordy Wednesday! I look forward to sharing another fabulous typographer with you next week, and I am always open to suggestions!

Take care,
